CARING FOR YOUR MAWEI GARMENTS.
Mawei garments are crafted from premium quality cashmere, linked and finished by hand. With proper care, your knitwear will age beautifully and stay with you for many seasons to come. This guide offers simple steps for maintaining, cleaning, and storing your cashmere pieces with care.

PILLING. It is a natural part of wearing soft, natural fibers like cashmere. It occurs when surface fibers gently rub against each other or be subject to friction — for example, at the underarms or along the sides of a bag or coat. The degree of pilling can vary depending on yarn color, fiber length, knit structure, and how the piece is worn. In fact, pilling is a characteristic of authentic cashmere.
We recommend using a cashmere comb to gently remove pills, especially after the first few wears or washes. With regular care, pilling will reduce over time and your garment will maintain its softness and appearance.

RESTING BETWEEN WEARS. Cashmere is a living fiber — it breathes, stretches, and absorbs moisture. We recommend allowing your garment to rest between wears. This helps the fibers regain their shape, maintain elasticity, and prolong the garment’s life.

HOW TO WASH. Mawei cashmere garments can be hand-washed or machine-washed with care.

MACHINE WASH. Turn your garment inside-out and place it in a laundry bag (2–3 similar pieces per wash). Use the delicate wool cycle at 30°C and 400 rpm. Always use a detergent made for wool or cashmere. Lay the garment flat on a clean towel to dry, and reshape the garment gently. Avoid direct sunlight or heat.

HAND WASH. Wash gently in cold water with wool or cashmere detergent. Do not rub, twist, or wring — this may cause the garment to stretch or misshape. Rinse thoroughly, then press out water without twisting. Lay flat to dry on a towel, away from heat and sunlight.

AFTER WASHING. Never hang wet cashmere. Hanging will stretch the fibers and alter the shape. Iron with low temperature, use a clean cotton cloth between the iron and the garment. Our Mawei wrap cloth makes an ideal pressing cloth. Use a cashmere comb if gentle depilling is needed after washing.

HOW TO STORE. Fold your cashmere neatly and store it in a clean drawer or on a shelf. Our Mawei wrap can be used to gently enclose and protect your garments. If you prefer to hang your knitwear, use a rounded hanger to prevent stretching — but folding is always the preferred method. Add a few cedar wood balls to help keep your pieces fresh and moth-free. Caring for your cashmere is part of its story. With gentle attention, your Mawei pieces are made to be worn, loved and returned to year after year.
